William Forrester

William Forrester is one of the leading characters in the movie 'Finding Forrester'.
Forrester is a white man who lives in a locality where majority of the dwellers are poor black people. In the starting of the movie his character is portrayed mysterious as he is often seen peering out of the window of his apartment with binoculars but never seen out of the house.
Later onwards we come to know that he is a gifted writer but only has published a single book by the name of Avalon Landing. He agrees to help Jamal (the other main character of the movie) to improve his writing skills on a condition that what ever work is written in his apartment wont go out from it and his identity to remain a secret.
It seems that Forrester is suffering from Agoraphobia( a term used for people who suffering from of fear of interacting with people and going out in public places) since he never comes out from his house. He is immensely passionate about writing thats why he suggests Jamal to write with his heart first then edit it using his brain.

Shooting an Elephant

The word enemy is derived from Anglo-French and Latin meaning something harmful or deadly or a military adversary.

In the essay “Shooting an Elephant” British are the clear enemies of Burmese. They had not only captured their land and imposed Imperial form of government on them but also treated them in a very vicious manner.

On the other hand Burmese hated English officers for being injustice to them and for ruling their native land.

The tame Elephant which had gone wild for sometime appears to be another enemy of the local people because it had not only caused destruction but also killed an innocent villager.

George Orwell hates imperialism that’s why he opposes British army ways of ruling the natives. He is in a position in which he cannot leave his job despite of hating it because he is poor. And Burmese hate him because he is also a part of the British army. His enemy is no doubt his weakness on situation.

The difference of enemies in this essay is noticeable in way that British are strong and powerful on the other hand Burmese are helpless and they cannot distress British army in any way.

I'm Just One

Silence… What’s the time? I cant remember anything. Cant tell if this is true or dream. Deep down inside I feel to scream. This terrible silence stops me. Another bell tears the graveyard silence around the house. Damn you new chowkidaar! I guess he wants ice again but wait… at this time? Where's the alarm clock? There it is on the floor! Holy .... its Sehri time already. Thank you new chowkidaar! First thing first, I’ve got to turn on the lights so the new gatekeeper knows im up. So what’s bugging me now? Ive got to take memory pills. Oh yea ive got to cook for atleast an hour AGAIN! I don’t know whether I make delicious food or these hungry people are of hungry descendants. Sometimes I really do wonder. Anyway, I prepare breakfast (while keeping in mind not to turn on the exhaust fan) and do the usual thing that wakes everyone and can wake anyone in their right minds up, Aamir Liaquat full volume on TV. Ok now I’m up too that’s the only setback to this strategy. Oh look! Aamir Liaquats getting his fair share of abusing from my husband! Give him some from me too! I dont actually know if everyone has this kind of start of the day but its home sweet home i guess. Ok one down, 5 more to go (excluding my newborn son) he’ll help me soon enough though. I go to my daughters room where I do strategy #2 which is to unleash our pet parrot on top of them! Ok now the parrot gets his fair share undeserved but they’re up too. 2 more to go now! My husbands brother (damn again) is the easiest one to wake up. I unleash my ultimate strategy on him. I go and unload my 6 month old son on him who doesn’t stop crying until someone carry him around like a depressed person thinking of suicide. Ok now only my oldest son is left. He’s easy too because I have to do only one thing. So until now I only feel a little drowsy myself but I guess im not going to rest until I wake all of them up. I shout WAKE UP! He stirrs a little so I go and just turn the lights off and close the door (See you in the end). Everyone's on the table now eating like some (ok im not saying anything now). I feel what I usually feel at all the sehri’s. C’mon give the aazaan already! Finally another peaceful sehri (I should mention that its peaceful because of 5:40AM). Oh look Talha’s up mumbling to himself which sound a lot like "damn the mullah for being so fresh that he's actually warning that time's up when theres a minute left." Ok now everyone do their work while I prepare for my share (rightly deserved!) which is to turn the AC on and go to sleep. Aah! Nothing like ruining everyones sleep and getting a peaceful one for yourself! What about you?
